It was the earliest surviving, copyrighted motion image (or “flicker”) – composed of an optical report (and medium close-up) of Fred Ott, an Edison employee, sneezing comically for the digital camera. Although Edison is usually credited with the event of early motion picture cameras and projectors, it was Dickson, in November 1890, who devised a crude, motor-powered digital camera that could photograph motion footage – referred to as a Kinetograph. It was the world’s first motion-picture movie digital camera – heavy and static, and requiring a lot of gentle. This was one of many major reasons for the emergence of motion pictures within the Eighteen Nineties.
